Henriette Louise (Yet) Jansz van der Veer and Husband Willem Marius van der Veer. Taken on the island of Sumatra. Henriette and Willem were married by proxy. Willem was living in Langsatoenong Sumatra and Henriette in Alkemade South Holland. Willems brother Koors, was the authorized agent. Possibly, since Kors was married to Henriette's sister Helena Berendina (I'm only guessing at this part as I'm not sure if Kors and Helena were married yet) but maybe they hadn't even met yet, Henriette and Willem. Maybe Mariette can shed some light on this. Since they were both from Alkemade maybe they did know each other.
Willem had been sent by his company to start a rubber tree plantation on the island of Sumatra. Since, as I was told, they had no electricity, running water or a place to live he didn't want to marry and take her there. He had to clear the land, build roads and buildings before he could have her come live there.
